Buescher Aristocrat

Another SSR Shop horn for sale!
This is a Buescher Aristocrat alto, serial number 273959, dating from circa 1936.
I love playing this horn. It has an absolutely gorgeous, mellow tone, excellent intonation, and a crisp, silent key mechanism. It feels fantastic under the fingers.
The lacquer is original, with about 60% remaining, and it has developed a beautiful, honest patina.
Because this isn’t a pristine silver- or gold-plated collector’s horn, I’ve made a few thoughtful upgrades to help it compete with modern instruments. First, I replaced the original right-hand thumb rest with a MusicMedic Comfort Thumb Rest in raw brass—it feels wonderful. I also added an adjustment bar for the Bb/G#/F connector arm and replaced the worn octave key box pivot with a better-fitting brass pin, which removes much of the play from the octave key mechanism. Buescher enthusiasts will spot these modifications in the photos.
This horn does not have the forked Eb, but it does have the G# trill key—one you’ll actually use. It has all the original snap-in pads, Norton gold plated springs, and a fresh set of MusicMedic pro pads in chocolate brown.
If you’re looking for a Buescher to play rather than simply collect, this is the one. It comes with a lovely original Buescher case in good condition.
